Japanese Speaking Therapist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor

What Makes Counseling with Sayaka Unique

I am a Japanese speaking therapist or counselor. I immigrated to US about 10 years ago. I can understand minority’s feeling, also provide a different perspective and a different point of view or different world view in our work together.

I am grateful to serve individuals and families taking courageous steps toward achieving wellness. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). If you are seeking a female therapist in Lakewood WA, who also happens to be of Japanese origin, I may be the perfect fit for you. I enjoy working with woman ages 20+ on concerns around anxiety, depression, trauma… etc. as well as those who are seeking a Japanese speaking therapist.

I believe we all experience some level of cognitive or thought distortion, which often cause emotional struggles in our lives. I practice Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to help you get unstuck from negative or unhelpful thoughts. I aim to help you move on to your goal (what you want, instead of what you need or should). MBCT is working well for not only thought patterns, but also the associated emotional disturbance as well, such as depression, anxiety, and other emotional struggles.

I have been working for a non profit psychiatric organization for over 5 years. I have worked with children and adolescents as well as their families. I also have extensive experience working with adults. I look at therapy as riding with people on their journeys. I, as a therapist, guide and help you choose a least harmful course for your journey, and the best course for that moment.

Modalities: Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy for children, Meditation, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Group Therapy techniques.
