About Me
Are you searching to find a BIPOC therapist in Tacoma? Looking for telehealth with a therapist? I offer counseling services online in Tacoma through Lakewood Child and Family Counseling, bringing a unique blend of therapeutic expertise and mindfulness practices to my work. As a long-term Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation practitioner, certified to teach Mindfulness, I integrate these valuable tools into our telehealth sessions.
Prior to moving to Washington, I gained experience in community mental health and served as a liaison with the Youth Services Department for a Police Agency in California. I believe in being a ‘good human first, Therapist second,’ understanding that genuine connection is essential for effective therapy. My approach focuses on helping you understand the “why” behind your experiences before exploring solutions. I bring honesty, warmth, and curiosity to each session. Cultural sensitivity, spirituality, non-violence, and working with marginalized communities, including BIPOC individuals, are deeply important to me. I am available for telehealth therapy throughout Washington state.
My Approach to Telehealth Therapy:
I offer telehealth therapy services, making it easier than ever to access support from the comfort of your own space. I believe that telehealth works and can be just as effective as in-person sessions. My background in mindfulness and yoga allows me to incorporate these practices into our work together, creating a holistic and personalized experience.
Ongoing Development and Mindfulness Practices:
I am committed to ongoing professional and personal development, which enhances my work as a therapist. My recent trainings include:
Weekly Authentic Communications Group
Enrollment in a yearlong course: “The Seeing that Frees” (Buddhist teaching of Emptiness)
Monthly Mindful Non-violent Communications group
Monthly Mindful Therapists, Mentors and Coaches group
Participation in weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly meditation circles (including BIPOC & Queer Insight meditation groups)
Annual silent meditation retreats
Daily meditation and mindful movement practice
