DARE TO DREAM BIG…

Just don’t do it alone!

Becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) is a meaningful milestone, and a difficult task.  It’s a sign that you’ve committed yourself to supporting others through some of life’s most difficult moments. And while your education has given you a strong foundation, the journey to full licensure includes more essential ingredients including clinical supervision for LMHCAs.

What have you learned in Supervision?

If all you’re hearing in supervision is that “you’re doing a great job,” that’s not truly learning.  I heard that often in my supervision experiences, when I was starting out, and it simply was not enough for me! True learning happens when growth edges are addressed and deep insight is gained.

So, what is LMHCA Supervision? Clinical supervision for LMHCAs is a semi-structured, ongoing relationship between you (the associate) and a qualified, seasoned, licensed supervisor, typically a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or another approved mental health professional. During this period, your supervisor reviews your clinical work, provides guidance on complex cases, and helps you develop the skills, judgment, insight, and confidence you need to practice the art of therapy safely and skillfully.

LMHCA supervision hours are a licensing requirement in Washington State and many other states. Think of it less like oversight and more like deep mentorship with purpose.

Together we will look at your strengths and your growth points. We will create a very personal experience full of credits and challenges.

YOUR PATH TO WA STATE LMHC LICENSURE

Our virtual time together can be as formal or informal as you prefer it to be. I tend to be called a ‘real human’ and not a ‘behind the clipboard’ type of Therapist & Supervisor.

We will navigate the WA state steps of taking the boards, obtaining the required client hours, and processing ‘the work’.

Let’s get you licensed!

WASHINGTON STATE APPROVED SUPERVISOR

What does this mean exactly? This means that I have the required training and nearly 2 decades of experience to help master’s level clinicians obtain their mental health licenses in WA; LMHC etc.

Our working hours together can be individual 1 on 1, or they can be shared with 1 or 2 other colleagues if you want to share time for cost or other reasons.

From LMHCA to LMHC: Stop Wishing and Start Licensing

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET LMHC LICENSED IN WA?

It takes a minimum of 36 months of full-time counseling or 3,000 hours of postgraduate mental health counseling under the supervision of an approved supervisor / licensed mental health counselor in an approved setting.

HOW MANY SUPERVISION HOURS DO I NEED FOR LMHC IN WA STATE?

LMHCA’s are required to obtain at least 100 hours in immediate supervision with an approved licensed mental health counselor or equally qualified licensed mental health practitioner.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?

Supervision is billed to a card on file. Individual one-on-one sessions are $150 per clock hour. If you’d like to share the experience and the cost, group supervision of up to three supervisees is available at $180 per hour, which works out to just $60 per person. Groups of two are welcome as well.

HOW DO SUPERVISEES AFFORD SUPERVISION?

I know the cost of supervision can sound very scary. Been there! This is why some may choose to share supervision with a colleague for costs.

However, let me reassure you that this investment in yourself and your learning is irreplaceable!  It’s an investment in YOU! And it can make or break your career. Having ‘good’ supervision can help you “work”… having ‘excellent’ supervision can help you create a successful & profitable private practice career.

Let’s connect & get you licensed!
